Emigration in US
While immigration to the United States is well documented, so is
emigration from the United States. And while people coming to the United
States still exceeds those leaving, most who do leave, do so not as
permanent emigrants but as expatriates for a limited amount of time.
Early in its history, the United States had a high level of immigration
because of its low population density. But in the past century,
emigration from the United States has increased. Former military
personnel contribute to the number of emigrants from the United States.
When they retire, they return to the countries where they were
previously based.
